May 2010 News & Info for Vocal Students

In the month of May there will be no lessons on the 8th, 29th, or 30th. Monday lessons will be held on the 3rd, 19th, 17th, and 24th. Tuesday lessons will be held on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and the 25th. Wednesday’s lessons will be held on the 5th, 12th, 19th, and the 26th. Thursday lessons will be held on the 6th, 13th, 20th and the 17th. We’ll only have 3 weeks for our Saturday students, the 1st, 15th, and the 22nd. Please remember the 30 day notice policy for missed lessons.

The auditions are here for next years choirs at SHS. You have all prepared very well and memorized your selections and are presenting with excellent stage presence and delivery. Present your performance piece with your best smile and your most confident attitude.

Congrats to all who made the cut for Stompin’ At The Ville Cabaret concert on the 24th of April. This is going to be a great concert and the Show Choirs from the middle schools are really going to add a lot!!! To the freshmen who made this show...you are amazing!!! RAVES TO YOU!!!!!

Women’s Chorale is going to states!!!!! The best of luck to you and this year is the best we’ve ever heard from this choir. Mrs. Eicher has done an incredible job this year, as always, as our Choral Director and we are so fortunate to have her.

March 2010 News & Info for Vocal Students

Congratulations to Scott Miesse a junior at Strongsville High School who was selected following statewide auditions held in December. Scott will star as Eddie in playwright A. R. Gurney’s Indian Blood. This performance will be held March 19th at Ashland University. We are really proud of you Scott!!!!

We are continuing to seek music that has been loaned to students. The 24 Italian Songs and Arias book for Medium Voice has not been returned. Also the Grease songbook and several copies of Taylor Swift selection have not been returned. Sharing music is great and we would love to continue doing this. Please check at home for these. Thanks so much.

To all students who have requested make-up lessons from illness or weather conflicts, thank you for being responsible for this. Again, we ask you to be careful walking on the driveway as the winter weather makes travel difficult. Travel at your own risk.

UPCOMMING auditions for Show Choirs and Concert Choirs and Spring concerts are next on our agenda. Please make sure to have your pieces chosen, music copies secured and CD’S or cassette tapes of accompaniment and study tips at every lesson!! If special attention is needed, it is your responsibility to seek it. College entrance audition CD’S must be finished early. Be prepared! Several pieces of music on loan to copy have not been returned. Please check your folders for these. Return our copies as soon as possible. Thank you. There will be four lessons for all students in February. Monday lessons will be held on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd.Tuesday lessons will be held on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. January 2010 News & Info for Vocal Students

A very special thanks to those of you who recorded during the month of December. I am so proud of your efforts and accomplishments. Thanks to those of you who remembered us this year with Christmas gifts. We were honored to receive them. Have a blessed 2010 and sing, sing, sing!!!!

Thank you for giving your best effort in our December performance. There were many new students and all of you did a good job.

Also, we are receiving calls from new students and we would like for you to know that we appreciate your referrals. Thank you for the privilege of sharing our talents with you. It truly is a joy to do so.

Scheduling Changes

Snow days are here and we will close when Strongsville Schools are closed due to inclement weather. We will attempt to make up lessons that are missed on those days.

There will be no lessons on Saturday January 16th. All other lessons will be held as usual.

CHRISTMAS RECORDING times are quickly filling up! Please call to book your recording time to receive your finished product by the 20th of December to give as gifts. OUR PERFORMANCE is here!!! December6th at 2:00!! @ South Park Mall (In front of Dick’s Sporting Goods) How exciting!! Friends and family will share our progress in our Holiday Performance. They will see growth in social interaction, memory skills and music appreciation. Please arrive by 1:30. All students sit in the front 2 rows. Dress in whatever you feel is special. Please remain for the entire performance in support of each other. Please hand in your accompaniment c.d. this week for Mr. Cuffari to make a master c.d. of all of our songs. You may pick up your c.d. on Monday November26th. LABEL your c.d. with your name, track # and song title.

PERFORMANCE FEE for sound company and mall required fee is $25 per student. Please send a separate check for this. Thank you.

Raves and Congratulations

Gwen D’Amico performed the National Anthem for the Cleveland Browns football game last month!! Marissa Viscomi performed the National Anthem for the SHS football game last week!! Elizabeth Ivanovic is performing in the off Broadway production of Snow White!!!! Alex Boyd and Scott Miesse in their Theatre productions!! All students who have the privilege of being members of Center and Albion Show Choirs this year as well as the other Show Choirs in our area. To all of you thank you for your hard work and excellent preparation. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Christmas songs are being selected for our holiday performance at the mall. We have not yet received our confirmation of the exact date. Please choose your selection ASAP and bring your sheet music and Karaoke CD to class. Many songs are being chosen at this time so decide soon so that you may have the song of your choice.

October lesson dates are: Monday 5th, 19th, 26th. Tuesday 6th, 20th, 27th. Wednesday7th, 14th, 21st, 28th. Thursday 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th. Saturday 3rd, 17th, 24th, 31st.

GOODBYE SENIOR GRADS. May God bless your future endeavors and know that you will be missed indeed. Thank you for the gift of having shared the song in your heart here with us. RAVES to your Senior Night performances. They were super!

CONGRATULATIONS to the new members of SHS Cantorum, Women's Chorale, Show Choir, and Freshman Chorus. Hard work and dedication must continue so that you will be well prepared for the Fall auditions for Teen Idol and Stompin’ At The Ville concerts. Also we must be skilled and memorized in our classical pieces to be performed at OMEA solo contest. Our sight reading skills truly paid off well for Cantorum and Women's Chorale auditions. We must work hard at this over the summer as much skill in this area is required.

JUNE lesson dates are as follows:

• Mon 1,8,15,22,29.
• Tue 2,9,16,.23,30.
• Wed 3,10.,7,24.
• Thur 4,11,18,25.
• Sat 13,20,27.

Please note there is no lesson sat June 6th.

Our late summer performance will be held September 12th. More info will follow.

BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND FOR LESSON AVAILABILITY ON MY SCHEDULE I AM FORCED TO INSTITUTE A POLICY: To maintain your position on my schedule there must be a 30 day notice for vacation time off. The only other exception will be a medical emergency. If you do not adhere to this policy, students from the waiting list will be moved into your time slot and you will be placed on the waiting list. I very much appreciate you valuing my time and effort by complying with this policy. Tuition is due the last week of the month for the coming month. Tuesday lessons will be held on the 3rd, 17th, 24th, and 31st. Wednesday lessons will be held on the 4th, 18th, and 25th. Thursday lessons will be held on the 5th, 19th, and 26th. Saturday lessons will be held on the 21st and 28th only.

Because of the high demand for lesson availability on my schedule, I am forced to institute a late payment policy.  To maintain your position on my schedule, there must be a 30 day notice for vacation time off.  The only other exception will be medical emergency.  If you do not adhere to this policy, students from my waiting list will be moved into your time slot and you will be placed on the waiting list.
